WENDY CAMPBELL DOES KILTWALK MACHU PICCHU FOR FUNNY LUMPS
So last week I did something a little bit crazy, with 24 hours notice I signed up to do a 6 day trek in Peru! I know I’m not the most outdoorsy of people but that’s why it’s going to be such a challenge and all you lovely people should sponsor me lots of money to do it!
The other reason is that it’s to raise money for the charity Funny Lumps (www.funnylumps.org) who offer help, support and advice for kids with Neurofibromatosis (NF).
NF is the most common genetic conditon, affecting 1 in 2500. What do you mean you've never heard of it!?
Amongst other things NF can cause tumours to form anywhere on the body and around 60% of those with NF will have learning disabilities. There is no cure.
Peru is not my only challenge though firstly I will be climbing Ben Lomond on the 15th March, I had to buy my first ever pair of walking boots last night and have borrowed a waterproof jacket (thank you Carol) and figure how hard can it be, right?
On 27th April I will be doing the 2014 Glasgow Kiltwalk which is 23 miles from the Hydro to Balloch on the shores of Loch Lomond.
To be able to go to Peru I need to raise £3640 by July….. Not an easy task which is why anything you can donate, no matter how small, would be massively appreciated. I’m planning to hopefully hold a couple of other events to raise some money so will post the details when I have them.
Please support me, Kiltwalk and Funny Lumps using the Donate Buttons on this page. Thank you.
